National Aquatics Center

For the Beijing Olympics 2008, National Aquatics Center is one of its venues. National Aquatics Center is popularly known as the water cube. For the grand event of Beijing Olympics 2008, this aquatic center is being constructed close to the Beijing National Stadium in Olympic Green. On 24th December 2003, reconstruction of this ground was started.

There are several intelligent brains behind this amazingly beautiful aquatic center. PTW architects, CSCEC International Design and Arup are the masterminds behind this beautiful National Aquatic center. China State Construction Engineering Corporation or CSCEC have constructed the structure.

This beautiful aquatic center features a steel space frame. It is also the largest ETFE clad structure across the world. It is spread over 65, 000 square metres of land area and 7.8 acres of total covered area. During the Olympics Games, its occupancy will be 17, 000, which will later reduced to 6, 000.

Enjoy some of the thrilling competitions of Swimming, Diving and Synchronized Swimming during the Beijing Olympics 2008. Earlier, Water Polo was also scheduled to be held in this very venue. But, after some discussions, this game is shifted to the Ying Tung Natatorium.
